Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time Diet Technician to join our Nutrition Team to work in a university campus setting in Tuscaloosa, AL. Monday-Friday, day shift with occasional nights and weekends as needed.

The Diet Technician supports the operations and nutrition teams in nutritional analysis related to menus and the execution of allergen awareness and wellness programming; provides support for delivering wellness commitments under the direction of a Bon Appétit Dietitian; carries out plans related to nutritional programs and strategies planned by the leadership team; and, ensures that established protocols are executed consistently including working with established guidelines, training operational teams, and reporting on compliance with established protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists supervising Dietitian in development of wellness materials and content.
  • Compiles feedback data from wellness programming.
  • Supports monthly research needed for Bon Appétit Food Standards Dashboard.
  • Receives and tracks recipes from the wellness and/or culinary team, enters recipes into nutritional analysis software in accordance with the recipe entry checklist, communicates missing information from recipes, accurately completes tracking logs, and communicates progress on recipe entry when applicable.
  • Conducts weekly menu review and audits of cafes to ensure established menuing protocols are in compliance.
  • Assists with signage and communication of nutrition data in locations that provide menu labeling.
  • Assists in routine monitoring of nutrition program details including menu entry, online and in café communication regarding menu items, communicating identified issues to managers, and reporting as directed.
  • Assists with delivery of food allergen awareness training.
  • Assists in routine monitoring of food allergen awareness protocols including descriptive menu labeling and proper guest communication.
  • Helps establish and maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with the key wellness stakeholders on campus.
  • Assists the campus Dietitian in site-specific wellness programming including on site demonstrations, community education events, and wellness focused social media campaigns.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related science field required.
  • Credentialed as a Diet Technician, Registered (DTR) preferred.
  • Knowledge of nutrition analysis software is a plus, but will be trained using our internal software package.
  • Familiarity and comfort with online communication including email and shared document platforms required.
  • Working knowledge of nutrition, and personal and/or professional understanding of basic culinary skills preferred.
  • Must complete Compass Webtrition training.
