Summary: Direct the activities of associates during a specific shift and oversee that assigned job expectations are completed while policy and procedure is maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Excellent customer service, maintaining a strong presence during service hours and routine rounds of “key” customers

- Maintain presentable serving & seating area – walk-through of areas 10 minutes prior to service, assure cleanliness of area, accurate and timely signage, décor, staff in uniform, all self-serve stations stocked and ready for service

- Maintain safe work environment and convey its importance by

- leading “customer 10” safety meeting on all shifts,

- posting & discussing safety topics for the week for unified campus approach

- ensuring 100% staff F.A.C.T. trained, certified with WA State Food Handler’s Permit, safety shoes, completed skills certifications within 1 month of hire or not able to schedule

- Cash management: maintain cashiers with enough change throughout shift, follow cash procedures at shift end, using Cashier Worksheet and create deposit. Complete audits quarterly on all shifts with Café Manager.

- Complete weekly inventory in 2-person team, per Bon Appetit accounting procedures. Audit prices, comparing to most recent invoices monthly, with updates on inventory to bookkeeping.

- Coordinate with account Lead Bookkeeper to submit all completed weekly reports on timely basis (10am every Monday) – invoices, timecards, inventory, transfer sheet, etc.

- Manage ordering of all product needed to stock operation; some directly (newspaper, bakery, coffee) and others in coordination w/ CSC. Establish appropriate par levels and utilize standard product list to place orders.

- Resolve customer and employee issues per Bon Appetit standards (all employee counseling to be documented immediately and delivered with OD, EC or GM as witness – copy to OD). Use Employee Handbook as guide. Document all customer issues in Day Timer and discuss with OD.

- Bring operational, employee, customer service and food quality concerns to the attention of OD, Exec. Chef and/or GM as soon as possible.

- Develop and maintain effective systems, both written and oral, to communicate with staff, peers, upper management and customers. To include:

- planning technique such as a Day Timer to organize and document operations

- weekly meeting with OD to plan the upcoming week and review past week

- weekly meeting with Supervisors to prepare them for upcoming week and review any new policies, and help develop their skills

- weekly product sales tracking

- Check food temperature at least twice a day.

- Observe sanitation bucket. Change water as needed.

- Maintain First aid kit according to established inventory sheet.

- Employee development and management: hiring, training, timely evaluations.

- POS system maintenance – learn basic operation of system (uploads, price changes, new button creation).

- Primary contact with campus Facilities and outside vendors for repairs and maintenance at unit. Report weekly to Café Manager..

- Work with Café Manager to plan café promotions (minimum 4 per year) to increase business and keep operation exciting – repeat old successes and plan new items.

- When café is closed, responsible to make sure all coolers, doors and windows locked.

-Demonstrate strong example for employees, following policies and procedures, staying busy at all times, culturing team environment, trying the food and having fun!
